WHAT IS IELTS ?
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a globally recognized test that is conducted all over the world. The test’s main objective is to measure one’s ability to communicate in English. It does this by testing all four basic linguistic skills – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Meant for non-native English speakers, it is for those who wish to study abroad or work in countries where English is the main language of communication.
WHY "IELTS" ?
This test is the first step in your Student Visa application process. Given that the IELTS conforms to the highest international standards of language assessment, your IELTS score is a trusted and valid indicator of your ability to communicate in English and is recognized by universities and colleges for course admissions in United States of America, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom and Australia and increasingly, in Europe.
WHICH IELTS TO TAKE ?
IELTS has two modules :
- Academic Training Module
- General Training Module
The Academic Training Module, as the name suggests, is for those applying for to study abroad in foreign universities. It is also applicable for candidates who want to register with the General Medical Council or the Dental Medical council in UK. If, however, you are looking to migrate to Canada, Australia or New Zealand, then you should opt for the General Module.

IELTS Format
IELTS uses an internationally recognised nine point scoring system to measure and report scores. This score is valid for 2 years. Although all candidates take the same Listening and Speaking Modules, there is a choice in the Reading and Writing Modules, depending on whether it is the Academic or the General Test.
The first three modules – Listening, Reading and Writing must be completed in one day with no break in between. The speaking module, however, may be taken 7 days before or after the other three modules.
WHO ALL CAN TAKE THE IELTS TEST ?
- To study in any English speaking countries like USA, CANADA, UK, AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND, SINGAPORE, PORTUGAL and other English speaking countries students need to ask for Academic IELTS. Students who wish to study Graduation abroad can take IELTS.
- Apart from the students wanting to study abroad, people who wish to go to a foreign country for Work Visa, Immigration or on Dependent Visa have to appear for General Training IELTS in order to prove their proficiency in English Language.

WHAT IS SAT ?
Scholastic Aptitude Test is a standardised test that is used for taking admission in the colleges of the United States of America.
WHY SAT ?
The test is conducted to assess the numeracy, writing skills and literacy of the students required for academic success in the college.
SAT EXAMINATION BODY :
It is developed, owned and published by the not-for-profit private College Board in the United States.
SAT FORMAT:
SAT scores range from 400 to 1600 and it combines the test results from the two 200-to-800-points that is ‘Mathematics’ and the ‘Critical Reading and Writing’. It has four compulsory sections; Writing and Language, Reading, Math (No calculator) and Math (calculator allowed) and one optional section (writing essay). Some of the test takers who do not take the essay could also have the fifth section which is used pretesting of the questions which could appear for future SAT administrations. However these scores are not included in SAT score computation. There are two section of scores in SAT: Math Section and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing is calculated on a scale of 200 to 800. The score of each section is a multiple of ten. The total score the SAT comes from adding the scores of the two sections and ranges from 400 to 1600. Added to the scores of the two sections the three test scores is calculated on a 10 to 40 scale, which is one for each of Writing and language, Reading and Math with an increment of 0.5 for Math and 1 for Writing and Language/ Reading. The essay is scored separately.
DURATION OF SAT
The duration of the SAT examination is 3 hours and takes 50 minutes more for the ones taking the essay.
THE FREQUENCY OF TAKING THE SAT EXAM:
The SAT exam can be taken as many times and is conducted five times a year in India.
WHO CAN TAKE THE SAT EXAM?
Since SAT exam is for undergraduate programs, 10th and 12th Grade students take this examination.
WHAT IS GRE ?
Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) is the standardized test that the student has to take to get admission into any of the graduate schools of Canada or United States. The test is offered as a computer-based or internet-based exam conducted at various testing centres.
WHY GRE ?
GRE is conducted to measure the quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning, critical thinking and analytical skills which have been acquired by students over the years. The GRE score is considered for admission formality and could be a vital selection factor.
GRE EXAMINATION BODY :
GRE is administered and owned by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).

- GRE General Test-Computer-Based General Test, Paper-Based General Test

WHO CAN TAKE THE GRE EXAM ?
Graduate students who are interested to study Specialized Masters in Business, MBA or Doctoral Degree Programs.
GRE GENERAL TEST FORMAT
The Computer-Based GRE General Test comprises of six sections. Analytical Writing section is the first one that involves separately argument and timed issue tasks. The five next sections comprises of two Verbal Reasoning and two Quantitative Reasoning sections and either a Research or Experimental section. The sections could be in any order. The Experimental Section is not included in the final score but is not distinguished as well from the other sections.
The Paper-Based GRE General Test comprises of six sections. The Analytical Writing Section comprises of two sections; one section each for argument and issue task. The four next sections comprises of two quantitative and two verbal sections in varying order. The Paper-Based test does not have an Experimental Section.
DURATION OF GRE:
The duration of the GRE examination is 3 hours 45 minutes. One minute break is given after every section and a ten-minute break is given after the third section
THE FREQUENCY OF TAKING THE GRE EXAM ?
The GRE General Test can be taken once every 21 days and up to five times with a year.
WHAT IS GMAT ?
The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is the Computer Adaptive Test that a student needs to take to get admission into the graduate business schools across the world. The objective of the test is to assess the problem-solving and analytical writing abilities of candidates while addressing the critical reasoning, logic and data sufficiency skills that is required for management and solve real-word business related problems.
WHY GMAT ?
The Graduate Management Admission Test is conducted for assessing certain writing, analytical , verbal, quantitative and reading skills to get admission into graduate management programs like the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program. The test requires knowledge of geometry, algebra, arithmetic etc.
GMAT EXAMINATION BODY :
GMAT is the registered trademark of the Graduate Management Admission Council.
GMAT FORMAT :
The GMAT exam comprises of four sections; that is Integrated Reasoning Section, Analytical Writing Assessment, Verbal Section and Quantitative Section.
DURATION OF GMAT :
The duration of the GMAT exam is 3 hours and 7 minutes. The test takers are given for the Analytical Writing Assessment, 30 minutes to work through the 12 questions that have multiple parts. For the Integrated Reasoning Section 62 minutes is allotted to complete 31 questions in the Quantitative Section and 65 minutes to work out 36 questions of the Verbal Section.
The Paper-Based GRE General Test comprises of six sections. The Analytical Writing Section comprises of two sections; one section each for argument and issue task. The four next sections comprises of two quantitative and two verbal sections in varying order. The Paper-Based test does not have an Experimental Section.
THE FREQUENCY OF TAKING THE GMAT EXAM ?
The GMAT exam can be taken five times in a year and not more than eight times in total. The attempts between two consecutive tests should be at least sixteen days apart.
WHO CAN TAKE THE GMAT EXAM?
GMAT exam can be taken by graduate students who want to pursue Masters in Business Administration Programs.
